Under Construction

  Murpheys New House
The rebuilding of the house of Cec & Shirly Murphey was a combiled effort of Steve Smith owner of SBS_Homes_INC. and myself.

Before Picture: After we tore the old house down, and hauled it away in dumpsters. We started digging the footings for the new house. Notice the black on the block wall, that is where the fire and smoke scorched the block.

After the footings were poured, then block walls were installed around and through the foundation to support the basement floor. Some of the old floor was used to backfill under the floor.

This is Mike Hege (Cec's grandson) backfilling the basement foundation walls. Some places in the foundation had to be filled 11'.

After backfilling the basement foundation, the plumbing was installed for the basement kitchen and bathrooms. Then gravel was spreed over the foundation. See the new block wall on the left, and the existing burnt wall on the right.

This is Mike working with the tracko. It was a major job just getting the site clean, and keeping it that way through all of the construction.

We extened the front of the house forward. Cec's office is right there at the front entrance.

This is the only craw space in the house. This is where we are installing the new gas Tankless Water Heater (Close to the bathrooms).

This was a big day, we started pouring concrete. We are using a pumper truck to pump the concrete over the large basement slab. all of the block walls get filled with concrete also.

We started framing the basement with 9' walls, and lots of large windows. Every day we had beautiful weather, oh yea, we were in a drought.

Day #4 of the framers being on the project. We started framing the 1st floor.

The 1st floor wall framing, and the 2 car garage are starting to go up.

View of the rear of the house, as you can see we have started framing the roof. Mike Hege and I (Bill) started framing the decks. We used 6" x 6" Presured posts to hold up the basement deck, 1st floor deck and the roof, that's a span of 30' in some places. Oh what a view from the decks to Cec's back yard and streem.

Front view of the roof framing starting to go up. That area above the garage is the bonus room.

The roof is finished and covered with tar paper.

Rear view, we are ready to start installing the shingles.

Mike and I have finished the walk out basement deck.

1st floor deck, with plywood floor. We are going to install outdoor carpet in the finish.

This is Shirley's new Jacuzzi tub, with shower.

 The hardiplank siding is installed.

A view of the large windows in the rear of the house.

CeCe slected the colors for the house, so that everything blended with the stone work on the front and roof shingles.

The front deck and stone work, with a nice wide set of steps.

This is about the time we had the party, Cec's Bible study class and the people that live next door were all invited to see what was going on.

  More pictures coming soon.
